The all-wood tail fairing support system shown here differs from the drawings by eliminating all aluminum except for some straps that support the most exposed wood strips. Note that the strips are not angled radially around the tail boom, but remain vertical.  Their aft limit is in line with the front fin spar, and they are planed to present rounded supports for the fabric. The fabric was light and durable, and was removed only once for repairs and was easily replaced.
