Here is a clear demonstration of part #309. The steel (-10) part at left attaches to the stern post,

while the white and silver (aluminum -3 & -9) parts in the center support the tail boom.

Of historic interest, the "FP" trademark on the primed part signifies that it was formed

by Jim Forney, of Forney Precision Inc., back in 1975 or so.
