When Ken rebuilt his Coot (Phoenix?) after the engine fire, he was determined to get rid of any instability in yaw by increasing the vertical fin area both above and below the tail boom.

While this was a good idea to start with, Ken went on to remove the water rudder.

That might work for him, but I don't recommend this idea for other Coot-builders.
