Some Coot-builders choose to hide the gear linkage actuators with sound-absorbing upholstery. 

An advantage of leaving it open is that the pilot can glance directly at the gear position indicator

attached to the #607 actuator torques tubes behind the passenger seat.

Again, note the significant thickness of the rear canopy for absorbing sound.
