George Lounsbery built N24GL in Detroit, and brought it to Coral Gables (FL) when he retired in 1984. Unfortunately his canopy opened during one of his first flights, and he forgot to keep up
the airspeed while reaching for the canopy. Fortunately, he stalled into tall, spongy trees that
cushioned his fall after the stall, resulting in a minor spine fracture but a destroyed Coot.
He kept in touch with the rest of us via the Newsletter until his death in 2003.
