In 2023 Richard Steeves, our newsletter’s founder and editor for 49 years, started looking for someone to carry on his steady hand at the helm. I was fortunate enough to have come to Richard’s attention through my many many questions on the Coot drawings. Enough questions that Richard enlisted Bruce Buksyk and David Rasor to help with them. For the past year we’ve been meeting regularly on Zoom to discuss the CAD solid model, and general Coot topics. We’ve already started the newsletter transition as described in Coot-builders Newsletter, Vol 50, No. 1 (Sept 1, 2024).
I have assumed the responsibilities of selling the Coot products as listed on the Order Form on the Coot-builder’s Support Page. I will continue to work on the CAD model, which is available for builders/restorers to access with my prior approval. This CAD model is a detailed translation of the drawings and parts into full3-D parts & assemblies and can be used to build a Coot. As a part of this is an updated Bill of Materials list, a drawing organization list, and the calculations used in creating the CAD. I’m available for help in using the model. I will also offer pdfs of Molt Taylor’s original “Notes to builders”, and pdfs of the first 50 volumes of the Coot-builders newsletters.
